Intro and such....

Welcome to my peon mind! I'm no Clayton Christensen...
However, I've had a few years in the business world, mostly in mediocre, sub-par or simple supervisory roles.

I've had good managers, bad managers, okay managers and ones you want to slap every time they open their mouths.

I've worked for encouragers, coaches, teachers and micro-managers. Some have had the big picture in mind; others have been detail-oriented. Most were good people; a few were without moral, and operated under the mindset of only getting what they wanted and climbing to the top at any cost.

This blog will address some main concepts throughout my writing (this is not a complete list, nor is it in any particular order):

  • Motivation
  • Coaching
  • Avoiding Micromanagement (it leads to micro-results)

  • Leading people vs managing operations
  • Having hard conversations: being direct without being a jerk
  • Keeping everything straight/organized/up to date (I know this may seem basically impossible, but you can do it!)
  • Knowing what you can do...

  • ...and recognizing when you simply can't do it yourself

  • Avoiding power trips, and what power trips do to your people and their morale.

I hope to see you back shortly... and spreading the word about what happens in the minds of grunts everywhere!

(PS, I'm starting my own businesses at the moment, so I definitely don't plan to be a grunt the rest of my life.)
